Top 5 Tips to Slow Down

It has never been easier to connect with someone on the other side of the world, yet it’s so easy to feel disconnected from the people closest to us as well as ourselves.  We have more tools than ever to simplify our daily tasks yet our to-do lists have never been longer.  Life is short and time flies.  The exercises below are meant to help you slow down, enjoy life and focus on the important things.

Slow down by taking 5-10 minutes to step outside and breathe fresh air.

  1. TAKE TIME TO PRIORITIZE YOUR DAY- Focusing on the most important tasks helps to eliminate the stress of trying to get everything done at once.

  2. REMEMBER YOUR GOALS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS- Each morning spend a few minutes thinking about your goals and aspirations. Recall the milestones you have already reached with pride and gratitude. Journaling is a wonderful practice.

  3. CUT YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEB SURFING TIME IN HALF- Technology has become a major part of our lives. Spending large amounts of time on the internet hinders our ability to focus by over-stimulating our brains. Reduce your internet time by 50% and use that time for meditation, exercise or a new hobby.

  4. ENJOY NATURE- Take 5-10 minutes and step outside to breathe fresh air. Disconnect from the rest of the world and admire the beauty of nature.

  5. EAT SLOWER- Many of us speed through our meals, missing the chance to appreciate the textures and flavors of our food. Start to chew slower and fully experience the smell, taste and texture of your food. This will also aid digestion and help you eat less. Spend your meals at the table, away from television, computers and cell phones.
